Harry Kane: Real Madrid or Tottenham?

Recent reports suggest that Harry Kane tops Real Madrid’s list as they seek to replace Karim Benzema. The 29-year-old Tottenham Striker has, however, not decided on his future. Meanwhile, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez, Chelsea’s Kai Havertz and Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic are also on the list of potential targets.

Madrid’s strategy

Real Madrid is looking for a reliable striker to replace Benzema, who has left Real after being with the Spanish giants for 14 years. Los Blancos have been admiring England’s record goalscorer Kane for a long time and are quietly hopeful that the exit of several of their high earners this summer could help their bid.

Real Madrid has Eden Hazard, Marco Asensio, and Mariano Diaz leaving the club this summer, boosting their transfer and wage budget by €77 million. The team is also still in negotiations with Borussia Dortmund over England midfielder Jude Bellingham.

Tottenham’s chairman, Daniel Levy, wants to keep Kane at his boyhood club and expects no less than £100m price tag. Given his impressive performance and achievements, Kane’s transfer value would be reasonably high, and Real Madrid, despite being heavily interested in his services, would be reluctant to pay such a price.

The potential move

Kane has previously tried to engineer a move to Manchester City but failed to do so two summers ago. As Spurs cannot provide Champions League football next season and Kane is yet to win a significant trophy with them, his future in north London remains unclear. With Real Madrid massively admiring his outstanding skills, the Spanish club will hope his hunger for major trophies will attract him to a move to Spain.

Tottenham is presently still without a manager after a dissatisfying campaign
