Michael J. Fox Receives Lifetime Achievement Award with Family Support
Michael J. Fox, the Back to The Future star, was supported by his family at the 2023 Spring Moving Image Awards in New York City, where he was named this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award recipient. The award recognizes his impressive Hollywood career and dedication to finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease, which he was diagnosed with in 1991 at the age of 29.
Family Support and Achievement
Despite revealing that his battle with Parkinson’s has been getting harder, Fox looked high in spirits at the event. He was accompanied by his wife, Tracy Pollan, and their 28-year-old twins, Aquinnah and Schuyler. Though their youngest daughter, Esmé, and their only son, Sam, were not present, the family looked happy and proud as they posed for photos together. Fox’s wife, who married him in 1988, stunned in a one-shoulder dress while their daughters showed off their contrasting fashion sense.
Fox has been a prominent actor in Hollywood for over four decades, getting back to his TV roots in 1996 on the sitcom “Spin City” after playing heartthrob Alex Keaton in the hit sitcom “Family Ties.” However, his battle with Parkinson’s disease has been a defining aspect of his life, inspiring him to launch the Michael J. Fox Foundation nine years after his diagnosis. The foundation, which seeks to find a cure for the terminal illness, has raised over $1 billion since its inception.
Lifetime Accolades and Documentary
Over the course of his illustrious career, Fox has amassed several accolades, including five Emmys, four Golden Globes, and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. In 2010, he even added a Grammy to his resume after winning the Best Spoken Word Album award for the audio version of his memoir, “Always Looking Up.” Moreover, four of his books have become New York Times bestsellers.
In November 2022, Fox was presented with an honorary Academy Award for his work surrounding Parkinson’s disease. Additionally, a documentary chronicling his 30-year battle, titled “Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie,” was released in May on AppleTV+.
