London Irish face Premiership relegation after Covid-19 outbreak

London Irish Rugby Club has been suspended from the Premiership after failing to secure a takeover or prove it could fund operations for the next season. The club will not be allowed to play in any league next season, resulting in just 10 teams for the Premiership instead of the previously planned 14. London Irish Rugby Club has been trying to pay for a £30m debt and owner Mick Crossan has been in talks to sell to a US-based consortium. The RFU has worked to secure the club’s long-term viability, but without the promised evidence of funding materialising, it had little choice but to suspend it.
