Hounslow Recognizes World Mental Health Day with Events and Support
On Tuesday, October 10, Hounslow will be joining the global community in recognizing World Mental Health Day. The Council, in collaboration with its health and wellbeing partners, is placing wellbeing at the top of the agenda for this important observance. As Mental Health Day aims to raise awareness about mental health issues and encourage positive change, Hounslow Council has been working diligently to promote positive mental health in the borough and provide support to residents facing mental health challenges.
Online Suicide Awareness Training
In preparation for World Mental Health Day, the Council encouraged residents of Hounslow to take advantage of the online suicide awareness training offered by the Zero Suicide Alliance. This free, 20-minute session equips individuals with the knowledge to identify signs of someone feeling suicidal and provides guidance on how to approach and have a conversation with someone in need. Over 250,000 people across London have already taken this training, with individuals from Hounslow contributing their photos with the special ‘I’ve taken the training’ poster, which has been turned into a montage to celebrate World Mental Health Day.
