Expectations

The event, hosted by Geoff Keighley, featured the announcement of several new games. The headlining games were Mortal Kombat 1, a franchise reboot, and Alan Wake 2. Additionally, the event saw numerous other companies showcasing their new games with over 16 Kameo characters, including Ryu and Guile from Street Fighter, a crossover with Dead by Daylight, and a glimpse of Exoprimal’s Path of Exile 2. Mortal Kombat 1 featured both Sub Zero and Scorpion now as brothers rather than enemies. There was a cameo roster with 16 characters from the original games, including Jean-Claude Van Damme as Johnny Cage because the game’s founders are big fans of Blood Sport, which inspired the series. The game also included 16 characters from the new Kameo Fighter roster, which may become a new trend in fighting games, replacing the tag mechanisms of earlier games.

Path of Exile 2

The event also showcased a sneak peek of Path of Exile 2. The game’s predecessor has developed a massive following, with many gamers considering it to be a better game than Diablo.
