The Sophies

The seven women competing for the role of Sophie Sheridan are Desmonda, Esme, Leah, Maddy, Maisie, Stephanie, and Stevie.

Desmonda, 27, from Indonesia, co-founded a musical theatre community and sees being part of the Mamma Mia! cast as a dream come true.

Esme, 22, from Chester, fell in love with musical theatre at the age of 12 and never imagined she would have a shot at playing Sophie. She is excited about the character’s journey and wants to prove herself in a romantic lead role.

Leah, 20, from Redcar, started at a local dance school and is thrilled about the opportunity to star in Mamma Mia!, a show she grew up watching. She sees playing Sophie as a challenge that she is eager to tackle.

Maddy, 20, from Bolton, recently graduated from Urdang and is new to the industry. She is drawn to Sophie’s bubbly and headstrong personality and wants to prove herself as a musical theatre performer.

Maisie, 22, from Margate, has been involved in musical theatre since she was little and wants to be on stage. She relates to Sophie’s close relationship with her mother and sees playing the role as the ultimate feel-good experience.

Stephanie, 22, from St Albans, has always wanted to play the role of Sophie. She grew up listening to ABBA and studied performing arts at Tring Park School of the Performing Arts. She sees this opportunity as a way to fulfill her childhood dream.

Stevie, 22, from Glasgow, discovered her passion for musical theatre at 15 years old. She initially auditioned for a musical theatre course as a fun activity but soon became addicted to performing. Playing Sophie in Mamma Mia! would be a dream come true for her.

The Skys

The seven men competing for the role of Sky Rymand are Callum, Craig, Darcy, Marcellus, Owen, Tobias, and Zachkiel.

Callum, 22, from Oxfordshire, trained at Rose Bruford and sees this audition as a special opportunity to play opposite a Sophie he meets on the show.

Craig, 26, from Perthshire, has been performing since he was six years old and studied at the Guildford School of Acting. He has friends who have starred in Mamma Mia! and has heard fantastic things about the experience.

Darcy, 23, from Hampshire, completed a three-year course at the London College of Music and has been auditioning for shows in the UK. He hopes to secure the lead role as Sky in the West End’s Mamma Mia!

Marcellus, 36, from High Wycombe, has had a successful career in performing arts and believes playing the role of Sky would be a great achievement. He wants to inspire others to never give up on their dreams.

Owen, 25, from Belfast, started singing at the age of 13 and wants to bring a different edge to the character of Sky. He believes there is more depth to the role and wants to explore it in a unique way.

Tobias, 22, from Somerset, has been performing as a male vocalist and dancer for many years. He has worked with the Strictly Theatre Company and believes this experience has taught him a lot about musical theatre.

Zachkiel, 21, from London, fell in love with musical theatre at a young age and attended the BRIT School. He wants to respect the character of Sky while adding his own spin to it.
