Exploring the Path of Russell Brand’s Comedy Co-Host Matt Morgan

The Fall Out: Where is Russell Brand’s Former Co-Host Matt Morgan Now?

Matt Morgan, known for his work as a comedy co-host alongside Russell Brand, has been relatively low-profile in recent years. Despite sharing numerous writing credits with Brand and being part of various radio shows together, the two no longer work as a duo.

A Rocky Relationship

Morgan and Brand first met on the set of MTV and later co-hosted BBC Radio 2’s “The Russell Brand Show” from its inception until 2008. The show came to an end following Brand’s resignation over prank telephone calls made to actor Andrew Sachs, which caused a public outcry.

Despite their fall out during this period, the duo joined forces again on different platforms such as TalkRadio’s version of “The Russell Brand Show,” XFM, and the Russell Brand Podcast. However, this reuniting didn’t last long, and the two parted ways once again.

Allegations and Fallout

Throughout their collaboration, Brand has faced various allegations, including rape and sexual abuse. These accusations were broadcast on Channel 4’s “Dispatches” and published in The Times and The Sunday Times. Brand vehemently denies these claims, but they have undoubtedly had an impact on his career and public image.

During a Radio X chat in 2017, Morgan and Brand alluded to a past fallout, hinting at tensions between them. Brand mentioned his own ego as a factor, while Morgan appeared defensive. Morgan jokingly imitated Brand’s voice, saying, “Well, everyone’s got a mansion they won’t let their friend stay in,” implying underlying issues between them.

Morgan’s Reclusive Nature

Morgan, in contrast to Brand’s public persona, tends to shun the limelight and keep his private life under wraps. Little is known about his personal life, but he shares a mutual friend with Brand in the form of Oasis star Noel Gallagher. Morgan and Gallagher have co-presented shows on XFM, Radio X, and Absolute Radio.

In 2020, Morgan launched his own podcast, “Matt Morgan’s Funny How?,” featuring guests such as Noel Gallagher and fellow comedian Joel Lycett. The podcast has since been rebranded as “The Matt Morgan Podcast” and is now available exclusively through a subscription model on Patreon.

The Recent Allegations Against Russell Brand

In recent days, fresh allegations against Russell Brand have come to light, dating back to his time hosting alongside Matt Morgan in 2008 in Los Angeles. A woman, who has chosen to remain anonymous, came forward with a claim of an alleged incident that took place while she was working in the same building as the recording of “The Russell Brand Show.”

The woman recounted how Brand entered the bathroom while she was squatting to look through the medicine cabinet, and he approached her from behind. She claims he made inappropriate comments and pulled out his penis with the intention of engaging in sexual activity. She managed to deflect his advances, and he left after someone knocked on the bathroom door.

The woman reported the incident to a BBC employee, who informed her that Brand had already been discussing it. She recently found evidence of the encounter in an episode of the show, where Brand and Morgan made light of the incident, further amplifying her distress.

Brand’s Response and Denial

Russell Brand has responded to these allegations, denying any non-consensual activity and asserting that all his sexual relationships have been consensual. He questions whether there may be another agenda at play, pointing to coordinated media attacks against individuals who challenge mainstream narratives.

He also addressed the recent disturbing letters he received, detailing aggressive attacks from mainstream media outlets that criticize his critiques of the news and his independent platform.

Morgan’s Regret and Condemnation

Matt Morgan, while no longer working with Brand, expressed regret over any discomfort caused by their show and condemned mistreatment of women. He was unaware of any allegations of serious sexual misconduct during his time working with Brand and underlines his commitment to condemning all forms of mistreatment.

As the allegations against Russell Brand unfold, it remains to be seen what consequences they will have on his career and public perception. Matt Morgan, in contrast, continues to focus on his podcast and remains distant from the spotlight.
