Zlatan Ibrahimovic announces retirement from football at 41
Swedish footballer, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, has announced his retirement from football at the age of 41. He ended his career in style with AC Milan after scoring 511 club goals and winning titles in four different countries, including league titles with Manchester United, Paris St-Germain, and both Milan teams. Although he missed out on the Champions League trophy, he won the Europa League with Manchester United in addition to many other club honors in his legendary career.
Longevity and Unique Personality
Ibrahimovic’s professional career began in 1999. He played for a host of teams including Malmo FF, Juventus, Barcelona, and LA Galaxy, among others. The man known for his ego, arrogance and humorous personality had a career that spanned over two decades. In a press conference following his announcement, he commented that “Football made me a man. It allowed me to know people I otherwise would never have known. I’ve travelled the world thanks to football. It’s all thanks to football.”
Undoubtedly, Ibrahimovic has become an iconic figure in the football world. His longevity in the sport and unwavering determination undoubtedly inspired many aspiring footballers. Even fans who disagreed with his arrogance and perceived showmanship couldn’t help but appreciate his unrivaled talent.
